WE TREAT ANY AGE GROUP
All ages can be treated with Osteopathy; this starts with newborn babies! Children are treated slightly different by using gentle, non-manipulative techniques. This can include delicate articulations, soft tissue work and often a form of Osteopathy called Cranial Osteopathy.
Treatment for babies and children can be good to soothe any aches and pains they may be experiencing, sports injuries and conditions similar to adults. Osteopathy helps aid the body’s structure and function and allows it to regain balance.
I completed a course in infant feeding coaching and counselling in 2021. This course allows me to help both mum and baby, supporting them from pre-natal preparations for feeding and through breast or bottle feeding post-natal.
For any questions on how Osteopathy can help your little one, please reach out through our Contact Form.
INFANT FEEDING
An infant feeding consultation can be helpful for all parents, pre or post-natal. Relax in a welcoming, supportive, friendly environment whilst getting the support you need.
Together we can look at and give support on:
- Pre-natal preparations (importance of skin crawl/ ‘the golden hour’, hand expressing/colostrum collection, birthing feeding plans, feeding positions)
- Importance of continued skin-to-skin contact
- Feeding cues
- Latching problems
- Pain when breastfeeding
- Feeding positions
- Breast vs bottle vs combi feeding
- Concerns about flow
During our first consultation, we will discuss the concerns you are having. During this time, don’t be afraid to tell us how you feel (tears are welcomed) so that I can fully support you. After, I will get you to feed the baby as you usually would so I can assess the positioning and latch. Once I have seen any issues, I will show you and encourage you to adjust your feeding positioning so that you and your baby can get the best feed you can.
After the first consultation, I will send you home with advice and how to continue at home. We will schedule a follow-up appointment to assess the progress and make any adaptions needed.
Sometimes a poor latch or feeding could be due to tightness within the baby’s body; for this, I may suggest some follow-up Osteopathy sessions.
